Chase Martyn thinks, therefore he blogs

I’m a journalist, a political observer (and sometimes organizer), a web developer, and a mediocre online marketer. Here, you’ll find some of my thoughts on politics, journalism, and technology.

I currently work as Managing Editor of the Iowa Independent, a locally-focused, online-only news organization supported by the Center for Independent Media. (But I should mention that this site is not affiliated with the Center for Independent Media, and the Center does not endorse anything printed here.)

During the 2008 Iowa Caucuses, my analysis was sought by a surprising number of news outlets, from Wired Magazine to NPR’s Morning Edition to a network of Spanish-language newspapers. I have also appeared on CNN International, Sky News, BBC, Air America Radio, and Al-Jazeera English.

In the past, I have worked for Democratic campaigns in Iowa on a paid and volunteer basis.

In my spare time, I experiment with various ways to make millions of dollars on the internet (always unsuccessfully).

This site is intended to be a place where I randomly assemble somewhat original observations focused on places where politics and journalism intersect with technology in varying degrees. I also plan to offer visitors some web design tools like templates and micro-apps when I have the time.
